My earliest memory of crafting was making my first construction paper headdress at Thanksgiving when I was about 4-years old. I’ve been hooked on creating ever since. There is nary a craft I haven’t tried; however, I always come back to fiber arts. {Or food. As a professionally trained chef, I put creating meals right up there with being uber creative!}

Today, I focus on writing sewing patterns for handbags and accessories and thoroughly enjoy the process, from conception to launch. My goal is to create unique designs with instructions that are easy to follow that will also teach you a new tip or technique along the way!

On November 1st, 2016 I opened a brick and mortar store, The Modern Sewist, in my hometown of Sarasota, Florida. Our niche is modern and contemporary fabric for quilters, bag makers, garment sewers and home decor. We are a certified BERNINA dealer, have a myriad of classes, a gift section and a community area for just relaxing and catching up.

When I am not designing, sewing or running the store, I’m usually at home with my husband, Ron, and our fur baby Benji. Or planning a trip. I love to travel. Like a whole lot.

Thank you for coming by! I am grateful for your support, encouragement and inspiration.

I’m often asked how I came up with the name CloBird. It’s what my mom calls my daughter, Chloe. Both equally artistic and vital to my core being, I feel like they stand beside me, even when they are far away. It’s my warm fuzzy.
